Uncover the Nature + Wildlife in the Trees & Underbrush.
The park offers something for everyone, with an off-leash dog area, spacious picnic areas, baseball and soccer fields, clean bathrooms, and water fountains for both humans and dogs. Visitors can enjoy excellent bird-watching spots, a playground with a sandbox, and plenty of shady areas to relax. A walking and jogging path loops around and through the park, making it easy to explore and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Bird Watching
Wilshire Park is a good location for bird watching in Portland, with a list of over 40 species of birds recorded, including common ones like chestnut-backed chickadees, red-tailed hawks, and vaux's swifts. The park features various habitats and trails, and is a great place to observe local species and migrants, especially during spring migration.

Trees of the Park
Preserving the trees in our park protects far more than beautiful scenery—it safeguards vital habitat for birds, insects, and wildlife that depend on them. Healthy trees also cool our neighborhoods, clean our air, and create welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy. By caring for these trees today, we ensure the park remains a thriving, green sanctuary for generations to come.

The Nature Patch
Completed in 2018, the nature space is located at the heart of the park, featuring a unique variety of flowering native plants to support pollinators with a path and natural seating features to enjoy the serene space. Take a walk through and see if you can identify some of the plants.
